Although pregnancy is a normal part of life, women sometimes need guidance in order to normalise their experience. Reducing fear and working with you to empower yourself are central to our shared philosophy. Evidence shows that providing the right care and support in the transitional period to parenting can have a long-term impact on health and well-being of all the family. We aim to provide the right care and support through our antenatal visits and birth education.
All antenatal appointments are undertaken at a time convenient to you in the comfort of your own home. We are also happy to meet you at an alternative venue, should you prefer. These occasions are an opportunity to monitor both your physical well-being and that of your baby.
You and your partner will have every opportunity to discuss all aspects of your pregnancy and birth, and any individual concerns or issues you may have.
As your pregnancy progresses, appointments will become more frequent, giving you and your partner plenty of opportunity to discuss your birth plan and preparations for labour and beyond.
The typical appointment schedule is as follows:-
8-12 weeks booking appointment of 2 hours, followed by 70-90 min appointments at 16, 20, 24, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 and 42 weeks, although Sarah will visit you more frequently if necessary.
The continuity of care provided by your known midwife Sarah, will contribute to a trusting relationship which will contribute positively to your birth experience.
One-off appointments can be made if your routine antenatal care does not meet your requirements e.g. discussion of birth plan options or post-dates pregnancy advice and support. These are subject to availability.
